NMC opens applications for new MBBS colleges and seat increases for 2027-28; last date 31 December

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of the National Medical Commission issued a public notice dated 8 October 2026 inviting online applications for establishing new medical colleges offering MBBS and for increasing MBBS intake at existing colleges for the 2027-28 academic year. The NMC lists the notice on its website under What's New dated 8 October; Medical Dialogues reported it on 9 October and UNI on 11 October.

Applications are accepted only through the NMC/MARB online portal. According to Medical Dialogues, the portal opened on 8 October, Part B on compliance with Minimum Standard Requirements runs from 1 November to 31 December 2026, and no application can be submitted after 31 December 2026; the article gives differing dates for the Part A fee deadline and payment reconciliation, so applicants should rely on the notice itself. Applicants must show a teaching hospital attached to only one college, land and building ownership or a lease of at least 30 years, faculty registered on AEBAS, three years of audited accounts and a solvency certificate. Infrastructure that is incomplete or still in progress on the date of submission will not be accepted, and an application is assessed only for the number of seats applied for.
