MCC says viral notice cutting the NEET UG 2026 counselling percentile is fake

The Medical Counselling Committee said in a notice dated 13 October 2026, reference U-11011/07/2026-MEC, that a document circulating in the public domain claiming a reduction of the percentile for NEET UG Counselling 2026 is fake, and that no such decision has been taken by the competent authority. According to Physics Wallah's report, the forged notice carried the reference U-12021/05/2024-MEC, was dated 12 October 2026, and claimed new cut-offs of 15 percentile for General and EWS candidates and 10 percentile for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates, supposedly after consultation between the Health Ministry and the NMC.

For students, the practical point is that MCC has announced no change to the NEET UG 2026 qualifying percentile for counselling. The notice reminds candidates that MCC does not host any website other than mcc.nic.in, that only information on that site should be treated as authentic, and that fraudulent websites or agents should be reported to the committee at adgme@nic.in. Medical Dialogues reported on 27 October that Karnataka's Directorate of Medical Education had separately asked the NMC to lower the percentile because 191 MBBS seats were left vacant, but no such order has been issued.

Verify any claimed notice against the UG Medical Counselling section of mcc.nic.in.
