A historic university located in Erlangen! It is the place where four Nobel Prize winners were produced, including Dr. Ohm who discovered Ohm's law. When we visited in early June, there was a beer festival called Bergkirchweih. Everyone was wearing traditional clothes and drinking beer on the street, which was a happy atmosphere.
Bureaucracy and absolutely abysmal system administration make studying here an odyssey. Unfortunately, FAU doesn't seem to care much about its students. The few staff members who try to help are hopelessly overwhelmed. All in all, a lot is going wrong here, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.
Main Library - Universitätsstraße: Essentially unchanged for 45 years. Now self-service, so you can walk in circles. Tax law has been extremely thinned out – the textbooks on it are located near the theology section. Even I can't find anything anymore.
The University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) stands out as one of Germany’s leading research universities, offering an exceptional academic environment for students and scholars from around the world. With a rich history dating back to 1743, …
The digital age hasn't been well received. Lecture recordings usually have poor video and audio quality. On top of that, there's a lot of independent study and Zoom lectures are rare. You might as well enroll in a distance learning program, …
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend studying at FAU. The quality of teaching is steadily declining – in particular, there is a lack of facilities (cafeteria, equipment, etc.). FAU strives to make its programs ever more "innovative" – this …
Lecturers across all disciplines simply don't respond to emails or phone calls, especially during the home office phase of the past two years. They let you down, whether it's about exam matters or anything else. This is especially true for …
I spent a semester at FAU on the Erasmus+ program. They place great importance on international students and create excellent programs for them. They also managed the Erasmus+ process very well. The classes were also quite enjoyable. While …
I wouldn't recommend the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at FAU to anyone – especially not to those with a high school GPA of at least 1.5. I studied International Business Studies. The teaching is poor; you don't learn much new …
The Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) in Erlangen is one of the oldest universities in Germany and boasts an impressive history dating back to 1743. Despite its long tradition, FAU is anything but stuffy or boring. Quite the opposite! …
While the cafeteria food and most of the lecturers (in my experience) represent some of the few positive aspects, unfortunately, little to nothing good can be said about the structural condition of most buildings, especially those of the …
The Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) at Hugenottenplatz is repeatedly praised by my acquaintances as a shining example of the successful symbiosis of Franconian tradition and technological pioneering spirit. From …
Farewell FAU. While it wasn't always easy, it's still a recommendable university. The lecturers are (mostly) very friendly, the new seminar building is beautiful, and the Kollegienhaus is a dream. The teaching is consistently of a high …
A horrible university. The motivated, student-friendly appearance is deceptive! From the student advisory service, to the examination office, to the department chairs, you're treated with such arrogance that it's unbelievable. It's a …
I'm actually a big fan of Friedrich-Alexander University. However, when you look at the university buildings, you feel like you're in the wrong movie. On the southern campus, there's an underground parking garage where a notice about …
Exam dates are unfortunately assigned without any consideration for vacationers... I wanted to go to America with friends, but unfortunately the examiners blocked us. A truly unacceptable situation.
I was certain of two things: that I wanted to study and that I wanted to go to FAU. I haven't regretted either.
I'm currently in my second semester of sociology, and I can only say positive …
I think there's something seriously wrong with this university if you're exposed to more problems and stress during exam and course registration than during the actual course/exam! …
nice place in bavaria..and one of the largest unis in germany. campus spread throughout Erlangen and in the neighbouring city of Nuremberg(20 km away) hqs of siemens and adidas nearby
The garden is well-maintained, and thanks to the large trees and lawn, you can see people gathered together to relax or chat. Bring a snack and enjoy it on the lawn, it's delicious!
Attention from the administration non-existent.
The workers at the student helping desk could not be more rude.
The level of the lectures is trash, I felt completely scammed...
The university offers programs which are multi-faceted and internationally recognised. The university also offers warm hospitality to the students across the globe.
FAU gave me all the opportunities I needed during my studies. The university is part of the city and has excellent connections both regionally and internationally.
Unfortunately, I experienced racism in the Pharmacy Department. The teaching assistants like to bully female students with a migration background. It's sad... …
Warning ?? Horrible university. I studied Latin to become a teacher here. Professor Christoph Schubert and his entire team were a complete disaster. …
Exam dates are set completely arbitrarily and at far too short notice. Subjects that aren't particularly interesting are given preferential treatment.
Would like to express sincere gratitude to Esther Paulmann, Lukas Wolf, and especially Dr. Jana Haag, Dental Studies Program Coordinator. …
Beautiful place. I lived in town next door, an Army base we called "Herzo base". That was in the early 70's. I always wanted to revisit.
A wonderful place to spend time. There's a park where you can relax on the lawn. There's a botanical garden with many plant species.
I've never experienced such unfriendly staff and lecturers. The people at the Examinations Office are simply unbelievable.
Unfortunately, no full courses are offered here, only seminars. It would also be appropriate to offer follow-up readings.
Nice small city in Germany & near to Nuremburg around 20Km.
Around 2000 Students & 1000 SIEMENS worker live in Erlangen.
Very disappointing... I completed my master's degree and was also employed as a doctoral student for 10 months...
I haven't regretted studying at this university – excellent teaching quality, clear structures! Keep it up :)
I'm a first year medical student in Ukraine, how can I get admission to continue my studies in this university?
FAU's payment practices leave much to be desired! As a contractor, you can easily wait months for your money!
Ottaviano Tapparo completely ruined me by making me pay for his damages to one of his patients, shame on me!!
Hobby gender activists, however, select participants for a food study based on BMI. Absolutely unacceptable.
A very good university with a wide range of subjects, and especially a beautiful administration building.
For 8 years, Erlangen was connected to Franconian Switzerland and the textile industry; it was our home.
I have had very few bad experiences with this university so far and have now spent several years there.
Studied my first semester of mechanical engineering there. Im just loving it.
Also a beautiful city!

Update June 2021:
Yes, it's only been two months, but I still want to share some information so …
A very good university. Access by public transport has improved compared to a few years ago.
How lucky that I'm not pregnant, otherwise I wouldn't be allowed to enter the C Tower!
Extremely poor university, it does NOT live up to its supposedly good reputation. …
Technology is not the latest, Wi-Fi works in 5% of cases but otherwise quite okay
Fifty minutes after the start of the event, I'm still standing in a 10 km queue
I've suffered burnout. Definitely not innovative, more like a weak follower.
Although it was a short study period, the school was friendly and pleasant.
I encountered the most unfriendly professors here. Arrogant and conceited.
Is this university offers full scholarship for foreign students?
One star is deducted for the ambience at the WISO in Nuremberg.
Simply ridiculous...! This university goes along with ANY crap.
The woman at the telephone switchboard is extremely unfriendly!
I enjoyed studying here. Great city, great university. ?? …
I've been studying here for over a year, everything is great.
One of the best University in Germany located in Erlangen.
I would strongly advise against using this establishment.
Supidupi Uni, whose graduates include some great people
No difference options. Otherwise, more.
