A Class 8 pass who had been a hospital receptionist, an MBBS from Kazakhstan who failed the FMGE and bought a Bihar degree: the two men Rajasthan's SOG arrested for registering with the state medical

A medical council registration is supposed to be the last check between a forged degree and a patient. In October 2026 Rajasthan's Special Operations Group showed how two very different forgeries had both passed it.

According to ETV Bharat and The CSR Journal, the SOG arrested two men who had obtained registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council on forged MBBS credentials, after the council's registrar filed a complaint at Ashok Nagar police station in Jaipur in October 2026. The two were identified in the reports as Nanji Ram Chaudhary of Dahipur in Jalore district and Pankaj Yadav of Kaliyawas in Sikar district. Aaj Tak reported that Chaudhary had studied only to Class 8 and had worked as a hospital receptionist before practising as a gynaecologist; The Governance Post reported that he had bought a hospital and begun operating on patients. Yadav, according to Aaj Tak and ETV Bharat, had studied MBBS in Kazakhstan, failed the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination on his return, and then used a degree and mark sheet purportedly from a Bihar medical college to register. Verification with the Bihar Medical Council and the college found that he was not registered there and that both documents were fake. The SOG said seven other accused named in the case were absconding and raids were under way.

The two cases are the two ends of the problem. One man had no medical education at all and relied on nobody checking. The other had a real foreign degree that India would not license without an exam he could not pass, and bought a domestic one to go around the exam. Both ended up with the same thing: a genuine registration number issued on a document the council had not verified at source.

For students, the second case is the warning. An MBBS abroad is a legitimate route, but the FMGE at the end of it is not optional, and the market that sells a way around it leads to a police file. For patients and families in Rajasthan, the council's register is still the check, with the caveat the case exposes: a number on the register is only as good as the document check behind it, which is why the council itself went to the police.
