The most damaging pattern: money is taken for a seat that doesn't exist. Sometimes the letter is forged; sometimes it's for a different, unrecognised college; sometimes it is real but the student is quietly enrolled somewhere else on arrival.
0 reviewed reports and 6 first-person stories of this pattern on TrustMBBS.
How it usually goes
A "guaranteed seat" or "direct admission" is promised regardless of your entrance exam or eligibility (NEET in India, MDCAT in Pakistan, and so on).
The offer letter arrives from the agent, not from a university email domain.
On arrival, the student finds a different institution, a language course instead of MBBS, or no enrolment at all.
Red flags
🚩 "Guaranteed" anything
🚩 Offer letter from a Gmail/Yahoo address or a domain that isn't the university's
🚩 College not in the World Directory of Medical Schools
🚩 Admission before you've submitted real documents
How to verify in 10 minutes
Check the college exists in the World Directory (WDOMS) — every college on TrustMBBS links to its WDOMS ID.
Email the university's admissions office directly and ask them to confirm your offer letter number.
Confirm the programme is MBBS/MD in the medical faculty, taught in a language you understand, and accepted by your home country's medical regulator (NMC in India, PMDC in Pakistan, BMDC in Bangladesh, NMC Nepal, MDCN in Nigeria, MMC in Malaysia, ECFMG for the US) — the regulator, not the agent, decides whether you can ever practise.
