Indian Embassy in Bishkek clears two Kyrgyz state medical universities with one-year accreditation

The Embassy of India in Bishkek issued an advisory dated 25 August 2026 for Indian students planning a medical course in Kyrgyzstan. It refers back to the embassy's 13 July 2026 advisory, which cautioned against admission to medical universities that did not pass state accreditation and to those accredited for only one year of the five-year course.

The embassy said the State Enterprise Foreign Student Admission Office, under the Kyrgyz Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovations, has clarified that two institutions on the one-year list, Kyrgyz National University named after Zh. Balasagyn and Jalal Abad State University named after B. Osmonov, are state medical universities with a special state status, and that their one-year term is procedural and tied to the current stage of the institutional accreditation cycle rather than to any concern about quality. On that assurance, the embassy said students may take admission at these two universities despite the one-year term. The advisory again points students to the earlier caution on universities that failed accreditation; Medical Dialogues reported on 24 September that the embassy's list of such institutions runs to 13. Students are told to follow the orders released by the Foreign Student Admission Office from time to time and to undertake due diligence before deciding.
