✈️ Before you fly to Iran (Islamic Republic of)

The checks that separate a safe admission from a scam. Do them yourself — not through the agent.

Before paying anyone

  • College is in the World Directory of Medical Schools (every college page here shows its WDOMS ID).
  • Offer letter confirmed by email from the university's own domain.
  • Fee structure in writing; tuition paid only to the university's bank account, receipt on university letterhead.
  • Agent/consultancy name checked on Check before you pay.
  • Originals stay with you — copies only.

Documents & money

  • Passport valid 18+ months; visa; 6–8 passport photos; attested school-leaving certificates; your entrance-exam result if your home regulator requires one (NEET, MDCAT, etc.); medical certificate; police clearance if required.
  • Confirmation that this university is accepted by your own country's medical regulator — the list differs for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Malaysia and others.
  • Money on a forex card plus a little cash — never large cash handed to anyone "for the university".
  • Travel + health insurance that covers Iran (Islamic Republic of); a copy of every document in your email.

Landing safely

  • Know who is meeting you and confirm it with the university or a verified student — not only the agent.
  • See the hostel before paying a deposit; ask a current student whether it's the real one.
  • Register with your country's embassy or consulate after arrival (many run a student portal); save its emergency number — stranded students in the cases we've published got out through their embassy.
  • Local SIM, bank account, and the campus map in your first week — a senior can do this with you in an afternoon.

🛡️ Safety & expenses in Iran (Islamic Republic of)

We don't publish a made-up "safety score" — official sources and real verification beat a number nobody can audit. Here's what to actually check.

🚨 Emergency numbers

Search "Iran (Islamic Republic of) emergency number" on arrival and save it — we don't have a verified number for this country yet.

Also save your home country's nearest embassy or consulate contact number before you fly, and register with them if your country offers it (e.g. India's MADAD portal, the UK's FCDO registration).

🧭 Before you go

  • Check your home government's official travel advisory for Iran (Islamic Republic of) — search it here rather than trust a consultancy's summary of it.
  • Keep scanned copies of your passport, visa, and admission letter in cloud storage, separate from the originals.
  • Get travel/health insurance that explicitly covers the country and duration of your course.
  • Learn the area around your campus and hostel in daylight before relying on it at night.
  • Avoid unlicensed taxis or "guides" who approach you at the airport — arrange pickup through the university where possible.

💰 Verify these expenses yourself

We don't publish estimated costs here — they date quickly and vary by city and lifestyle. Before you commit money, get these in writing directly from the university, not only from an agent:

  • Full multi-year tuition, and whether it can increase year to year
  • Hostel/accommodation fees and what's included (food, utilities, wifi)
  • One-time costs: visa, admission/registration fees, health checks
  • Approximate flight cost for your route and how often you'd realistically travel home
  • Health insurance premium required for your visa or enrollment

Army University of Medical Sciences Medical School

God, please help me and give me strength. I promise to work with every cell of my being and I will not stop trying until I reach this university. After God, I worship the University of Tehran. Hopefully, in 1400, I will become a medical student at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Wait for me, my beautiful university ????

Zanjan University of Medical Sciences Faculty of Medicine

milad kamali
A university that doesn't have proper dormitories, but inside it's a free university and everyone can behave however they want, with security guards who can probably get steamy with a heater, the professors think it's Harvard University and they're strict as if they're going to be awarded the world's best medal tomorrow.

Islamic Azad University Mashhad Branch Faculty of Medicine

Falcon24
This university used to be a hospital, but it was later changed into a university. Until a few years ago, when the building next to the university was not demolished, it was one of the worst universities in the city. But now it has improved a bit, and using the demolished space as a parking lot was a very good idea.

Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Faculty of Medicine

Mohsen Darvishi
I came to Taleghani Hospital from 12:00 for a hand injury. Until now, it is 21:10. I have only been bandaged and have not been taken to the operating room. They say we don't have a doctor. So why did you agree? If they had told me at the time, I would have gone to another hospital. That's one star too many.

Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences Faculty of Medicine

Behrang Mostaghel
A university where we see a lot of paradoxes. But overall it is like other universities in Iran. I study physics, astrophysics and cosmology. Despite all the problems that have come to the physics department, our gravity and cosmology department is the strongest in Iran. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Islamic Azad University Tehran Faculty of Medicine

Dr. Pezhman Pazhouhesh
I have been teaching here for several years. The university is higher in terms of academic level than other universities, but the interesting thing is the behavior and culture of the students there. In my opinion, having taught at other universities, other departments have more polite and humble students.

Hamadan University of Medical Sciences Medical School

sadegh motahari
You don't provide good service, you don't care about people. Calling and criticizing is useless. Waiting for a few minutes on the line and then hanging up without an answer. Doctors are not present at Sami'i health centers for an entire week for no reason. Angry employees who themselves need a doctor.

Islamic Azad University Najafabad Branch Faculty of Medical Science

Mahsa Naderi
The Science and Technology Development Center and Park, especially the Tovan Sanjesh company, are extremely low-level and can be said to be a disgrace. They sell copied products that it is not clear which student they belong to as single products. All of this is due to Dr. Rouhani's poor management.

Ilam University of Medical Sciences School of Medicine

Homa Yavari
You made me miss you even more, Google. I saw his university. But I couldn't figure out which dorm building he was in. I know he's awake now. I wish I could see which building and which room he's in. I miss Shasdeh so much. He's from Ilam and I'm from Shiraz. He's funny. I wish I wasn't in love.
