Additional Information: Iran University of Medical Sciences was established in 1974 as the International Medical Center of Iran. The center established the School of Medicine in 1977. In 1979, the name was changed to Iran Medical Center, and the center was officially transferred to the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Higher Education (presently known as Ministry of Sciences, Research, and Technology). The center, now under the name of Iran University of Medical Sciences, was officially taken over in 1986 by the Ministry of Health. IUMS cooperates with Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in the bilateral exchange of students and staff through mobility programs.
