A homepage online every month until July 2024, then a redirect to a lottery-spam page: what anyone selling a Sudan International University seat cannot prove right now
Some 24,000 students from African and Arab countries had been studying at Sudanese universities, according to the Middle East Studies Association's Committee on Academic Freedom, citing higher education minister Mohamed Hassan Dahab; fighting began in Khartoum on 15 April 2023. Sudan International University describes itself as a private university founded in 1990 in Khartoum. Its Faculty of Medicine appears in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools under record F0002713 and in the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research directory, both pointing to www.siu-sd.com.
That website is the problem. The Wayback Machine's index shows siu-sd.com serving a university homepage from 2008 until July 2024; every status recorded since August 2024 is a redirect. On 12 October 2026 TrustMBBS found it redirecting to a page of Indonesian lottery-betting spam. The June 2024 archive already carried injected "replica watches" text and web-template placeholder contact details, and TrustMBBS could find no news or regulator report from 2022 to 2026 naming the university. None of this is an allegation against Sudan International University; a domain that now points elsewhere says nothing about whether its Faculty of Medicine is teaching.
That gap is costly. A questionnaire survey in BMC Medical Education in June 2026 drew answers from 27 of Sudan's roughly 70 medical and dental institutions: 19 had relocated, nine of them to Rwanda or Saudi Arabia, teachers put drop-out at 13 to 100 per cent, and 30 per cent of staff had left. INHEA, an African higher-education news digest, reports Ministerial Decree No. 83 of 2026 ordering institutions back to original campuses by 1 August 2026; the underlying Sudan News Agency posts could not be opened, so this is not independently confirmed.
For an Indian applicant, the National Medical Commission's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 require at least 54 months of study and a 12-month internship in the same foreign institution, and Schedule I says no part of the training may be done in any other country. In August 2023 the NMC warned that any variation can disqualify a graduate from registration in India, having earlier stated that courses taken solely online are not recognised.
Ask anyone selling a seat concrete questions. Where are lectures and clinical rotations held, in which hospital, and who certifies attendance? Get written answers from the university, not the agent; the archived site's phone numbers and email cannot be assumed to work. The archived website required foreign applicants to present embassy-attested school certificates and apply at the university building itself, so be wary of anyone offering to skip that step for a fee. Check your home regulator's rules before paying, and see Khartoum's other displaced medical colleges elsewhere on this site.
