KMPDC opens 2027 practice licence renewal; deadline 30 November, penalties after 31 December
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council has opened its portal for renewal of 2027 practice licences, in a renewal notice dated 25 September 2026 (ref KMPDC/RNWL/OCT 2026) signed by Chief Executive Officer and Registrar Dr David G. Kariuki and posted on kmpdc.go.ke. Practitioners must renew by 30 November 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act (Cap 253), and penalties for late renewal apply after 31 December 2026.
Renewal is done through the online services portal at osp.kmpdc.go.ke. Applicants need a minimum of 50 CPD points recorded on icpdkenya.org and must upload valid indemnity cover; the fee is system generated and paid by M-Pesa paybill 222222. Listed fees for Kenyans are Kshs 10,000 for a general practice or registrar licence, Kshs 20,000 for senior registrar or specialist, and Kshs 8,000 for community oral health officers. Non-Kenyans pay Kshs 55,000 (general) or 65,000 (specialist), temporary licences cost Kshs 90,000 or 130,000, and all foreigners need a letter of no objection from the Cabinet Secretary for Health.
Newly registered doctors and foreign-trained practitioners should confirm their licence category and CPD status on the portal before the deadline.
