Covista reports Ross and AUC students' USMLE Step 1 first-time pass rates by MCAT band

Covista, parent company of Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten, issued a press release through Business Wire on 13 October 2026 reporting first-time USMLE Step 1 pass rates for students who matriculated in 2021 to 2023 and had sat the exam by August 2026, set against AAMC data for US MD students in the same MCAT score bands. In the 472 to 485 band it reports 80 percent for Ross and 64 percent for AUC against 58 percent for US MD students, and 100 percent for both schools at 514 and above. Both schools trail the US MD figure in some higher bands, including 510 to 513, where Ross reports 83 percent and AUC 90 percent against 94 percent. Covista also reports first-time residency attainment of 96 percent for Ross and above 98 percent for AUC among 2025-26 graduates.

The figures are company-issued, drawn from university and AAMC data. Students sit Step 1 only after completing the medical sciences curriculum and passing a school-approved comprehensive exam, and not all matriculants sat Step 1. The pass rates therefore exclude students who left or were held back before the exam, and the release gives no attrition figures by entering cohort.

The full tables are in the Finviz-syndicated release.
